DescriptionI was in Lucca for the Comic Con, Frank Miller was there (even if not many had the chance to actually see him) and started thinking about the anniversary of The Dark Knight Returns... first published in 1986 so it is 30 years old now!It was something that needed to be celebrated and I decided to ask my friends at ComicArtStore since they represent some of the most talented Italian artists around. My first choice would have been Michele Benevento, one of the very best artists working in Bonelli, that I knew could do wonders also with superheroes. I was lucky, he only had one commission already taken and would have been able to complete mine in Lucca. I also had the chance to see him working on the piece (see additional images) until he actually finished it. Then, we both left Lucca to come back home (this was the last piece I picked up at the Comic Con). I find this piece really amazing, both respectful of the original characters and showing Michele's great craftsmanship. The aged, bulky but still powerful Batman together with the small and slender Carrie Kelley, a 13-year-old girl that is the new Robin in TDKR story, really do make a fantastic contrast. Many thanks to Michele, Antonio, Gianfranco and Sylvain! Social/Sharing |
