DescriptionThis new hybrid is a tribute to the director Don Siegel and one of the very best (and extremely versatile) artists from the Disney Academy era, Corrado Mastantuono.I believe every Sci-Fi movie lover has watched at least one time Don Siegel's 1956 movie "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers"; it's so iconic and powerful. The film is about an extraterrestrial invasion that begins in the (fictional) California town of Santa Mira: alien plant spores have fallen from space and grown into large seed pods, each one capable of reproducing a duplicate replacement copy of each human. As each pod reaches full development, it assimilates the physical characteristics, memories, and personalities of each sleeping person placed near it; these duplicates, however, are devoid of all human emotion. Little by little, a local doctor uncovers this "quiet" invasion and attempts to stop it. In Alberto's spectacular illustration, Boomer Buff (Bum Bum Ghigno in Italy, Mastantuono's most famous Disney creation, a lazy and clumsy rotund duck who dresses in overalls and a red chequered shirt, best friend with both Donald Duck and Gyro Gearloose) is probably soon to be replaced by his duplicate in the pod... and the joke is all in the "?" of the original Bum Bum versus the "!" of the duplicate ^_^ Also included, in the additional images, are the prelim and the color version (by Lavoradori himself). I watched this sci-fi classic on TV as a boy, and I still remember how much it scared me... Great piece by Lavoradori!
