DescriptionWhisky and Gogo, respectively a brown bear and a trapper, were the main characters of a humor comic book series, published starting from 1960, set in the old West and created by Luciano Bottaro and Carlo Chendi.You can easily guess (from his name) what the bear was after most of the time while Gogo is a small trapper with a thick beard and a pipe always in his mouth. Other characters of the series include the Scarecrow native Americans, a hitman, etc. Also, other bears as the one you can see on this page (where there's no Gogo, unfortunately), the Grey Bear, an aggressive, thief, not caring. Looks like he traveled the world in a circus and is ready to create alliances with humans against other bears if this brings him some advantages. This page is from a story titled "Spaccalorso", from the name of a character known as the most feared bear hunter around (and also an old friend of Gogo), and it shows a quarrel between the Grey Bear and Whisky (guilty of been using the Grey Bear's cave to hide from the bear hunter), with Spaccalorso hunting both of them. I really love all Bottaro's creations and Whisky & Gogo is (for me) probably second only to Pepito. Glad I finally found a page from this series. As usual, it shows the magnificent line art of the Rapallo Master. It's clean, beautiful, balanced and incredibly funny. Colored on the back (see additional images). They should have made an animated series from these comics. Just great!
