DescriptionSeeing as how Eddie Brock/Venom’s solo film has just premiered (nope, haven’t seen it yet as I write this) I thought I’d post a piece featuring said character, and yes, by one of my fave artists, Mr. Ryan Stegman. This comes from the final issue of the initial arc titled “Rex” from the new Venom series. I’d highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t. The creative team of Cates/Stegman/Mayer/Martin make some crazy awesome additions to the Venom and symbiote mythos. And, as you can tell from this piece, the book looks great! I’m a huge Spider-Man fan, but have always been so-so on Venom, and these guys are actually making me care a bit more!Venom has just taken out the symbiote dragon (yep, you read that right) and arising from the gooey carcass is new villain Knull who then lurches at our hero, or, anti-hero. “Hero” doesn’t quite work for Venom, right? It’s a full on toe-to-toe battle scene with Venom geared up in light/anti-dark weaponry (gotta read the book) with one gun blasting a hole right through Knull. A dynamic image, a strength of Ryan’s, with tons of great detail, particularly on the guns and tendrils. It’s accentuated by new collaborator JP Mayer, who’s really highlighted Ryan’s skills with skills of his own. The piece comes on 2 boards – one with inks over blue line and the other the original pencils. Included images of both as well as a published one. The creative team’s been getting some much deserved pub on the series so far, with some going as far as to call it better than Watchmen ;) Evidence of that is how quick the pages fly off of Felix Lu’s website – I was lucky to nab this one right when they were posted. Being such a big fan of Ryan’s (check out my gallery!) I had to pick one up and I’m stoked it’s such a nice one. Thanks, Felix, Ryan, and JP! Social/Sharing |

Killer splash K. Stegman is operating on a whole other level with this book.

Hadn’t thought of that, Ryan, but I totally see it - tendrilly evilness! Loved X-Tinction Agenda and a page from Uncanny #271 is definitely on the bucket list! Thanks for the comments, all!

I'm also not surprised to see you post an awesome Venom piece on the eve of the Venom movie's premiere. Stegman has been knocking this series out of the ballpark, and this page is absolutely stunning!

Appreciate that coming from a big Venom fan. I really do think this creative team will go down as one of the best to work on the character, really adding some lasting contributions to Venom's history! Thanks for the comment, Chad!

I can only confirm that it's a very cool splash page by Ryan and JP. Issue 6 had some cool pages inside too !
