Description

The route to the Defenders getting their own comic was a tortuous one, and it began with this issue�s introduction to the Undying Ones. This page shows the discovery of the idol to the Undying Ones, but sadly the title was cancelled before the cataclysmic consequences of the return to of the idol to the world could be revealed. The Undying Ones would go on to become a vital thread in the Defenders comic and in the story of Barbara Norris and the Valkyrie in particular. The historic scene is rendered brilliantly by one the best artist and inker combos of all time � Colan and Palmer. I am grateful to Paul Handler for kindly agreeing to sell me this page.

Besides being a great puzzle piece in the Defenders saga, this page is a sheer joy for the expressive storytelling and deft rendering. Each of the 1968 Dr. Strange issues was wonderful work... Roy, Gene and Tom had a grand vision for the series, and carried it out magnificently.

What a brilliant run. Doctor Strange introduced us to the magical team of Gene Colan and Tom Palmer. Before Daredevil and Tomb of Dracula it gave us one of the best combination or artists. None better than Tom could render and embellish Gene's pencils and add this smoothness without altering anything. They truly fit to each other. Love these guys and love this page too. Congratulations for this beauty !
