Description

Feeling rejected by Valkyrie earlier in the issue, Nighthawk is cheered up by an unexpected visit from a former flame, Trixie (Trish) Starr. Any potential rekindling of that flame was well and truly ruined when Trish succumbs to the Headmen’s Black Rain, which induces uncontrollable frenzy. It’s as much as Nighthawk can do to stop her from throwing herself fifty stories to the street below (although the ‘drastic action’ of slapping a woman is an incongruous inclusion in the plot, unpleasantly harking back to tropes of female hysteria).

Many thanks to Lee Benaka for selling me this dramatic page. It’s a real joy to find a page from a Headmen story, even though they don’t make an appearance here. Sal’s scene of panic and madness in the last panel is fantastic.
