DescriptionOkay, in typical Chris Claremont fashion, he made another mess of the X-Men mythos when he came up with the idea to create a different version of Storm. No, I'm not talking about when he gave her the mohawk, that was actually just a change to her hair and costume and was pretty cool. I'm talking about when he created Li'l 'Ro, the young version of Ororo who was suddenly partners in crime with Gambit as thieves in New Orleans. Well in this series, he introduced a 3rd Storm. The "real" one was turned into a being of pure energy and paraded around in costume as the Ghost Panther in this series. Since everything about the X-Men that Claremont wrote after issue #200 or so is a confusing mess, I'm not even sure how to explain the 3rd Storm in this series. Suffice it to say, everyone thinks she's the "real" Storm, who it is found out later on that she killed Wolverine and basically turned evil, ultimately killing the Black Panther and Killmonger, renaming herself Perfect Storm and taking over as leader of Wakanda.Anyway,on the left side of this cover is the evil Perfect Storm, while on the right we see the thief and young version of Storm, Li'l 'Ro. Congrats, Ruben. A stunning X-Men cover by Tom, gorgeous as usual! And, a thoroughly convoluted mish mash of a Storm story that makes no sense and makes me so happy that I stopped reading the X-Men after issue 200!!

That is a beautiful cover, and I sure appreciate you trying to clarify the whole Ororo/Storm saga (I guess it was inevitable that a character named "Perfect Storm" would enter into the mythos - it's just too tempting). I was so excited when Chris Claremont's X-Men Forever was announced years ago, because I thought maaaaybe this time I'd be able to follow the stories. But alas, it got so complicated right away. But Tom Grummett's artwork is phenomenol, so thank you for sharing.

It's a good thing it's a visual medium, because that's a great cover, even though it signifies a muddled mish-mosh of writing for you. (I like your write-up) Congrats!

Thanks for the explanation...whew. Not sure I totally get it but imagine if you hadn't provided that commentary! In any case, the OA is great! I like most how you can tell this is the same person but not, with all the subtle differences between the 2 halves of Ororo's face. I love when artists can make us see things, but subtly. Congrats, man!
