Description

Belardinelli channels Hieronymus Bosch in this hallucinatory masterpiece. The Harlem Hellcats’ leader, Giant is menaced by his former team, the Harlem Heroes’, arch nemesis Artie Gruber – in his nightmares. In the ‘real’ world, Artie is undergoing cosmetic surgery so that he appears more like Dimples Devine, a player for the Philadelphia Freaks (who is killed in this story to make way for his lookalike). It’s a copy of the story from the Harlem Heroes’ one in which Gruber replaces Joe Mugglie of Gorgon’s Gargoyles – but it was a great ruse the first time around, so why not do it again!

Blooming heck. That is a lovely thing. I'm transported straight back to the heady days of the late seventies. RIP Massimo, much missed.

Title pages literally do not get any better than this. as a bit of a fan of Massimos work i look at this with envious eyes!
