Cover dated December 1987.

Roy Thomas� 1980s DC books focusing on Earth-2 and the Golden Age characters were my introduction to the great heroes of the 1940s, and �Secret Origins� in particular offered a great education on the histories of the classic DC and Quality characters.

Murphy Anderson demonstrates here why many consider him a master of the artform. There�s an elegance to his work that few can match.

It's classical illustration with superhero panel page layout and structure. Anderson produces such a fine and elegant line with the brush like the old masters of the artform. Every power packed strike is balanced with a graceful motion of flight in this page.

Murphys art is a joy to behold in detail and graphic design, especially when inked by himself - no matter how useless the main character is (Yo dear "Black Condor").
