The whole page works great at showing the characters in scale establishing the setting. It actually enhances the power of the following panels.

Exactly!
Like a tsumani taking the water out to come crashing down...

Just love the last panel as it reminds me of the classic huge fist slamming down in both Frenz and Sal's work.
