Description

Howard Quartz, the boss of Ro-Busters, attempts to avoid bankruptcy by staging an �accident� involving abused and unwanted robots and an insurance scam. Ro-Jaws and Hammerstein launch a plan for a secret exodus of droids from Earth to a sanctuary on Saturn Six. On this page, a number of droids escape Quartz�s troops aboard a freighter that turns into a spaceship � with the transformation into the �Black Butterfly� drawn beautifully by the brilliant Mike McMahon. But 12 droids have to stay behind on a suicide mission, fighting Quartz�s sadistic PD Troopers, in order for the other droids� escape to succeed. Ginger and Mo reflect on that bravery in a poignant scene at the bottom of the page.

Sophisticated Sci-Fi. As a kid, it was probably too much to take in, being used to the glossy look and pacing of American comics. These are overwhelmingly intense and fantasical drawings on the page by McMahan.

Some really beautiful imagery here, with that awesome deep space background. That last panel is so sad, though I get a bit of a chuckle out of the wordplay on the famous songwriting team Rodgers and Hammerstein (Ro-Jaws and Hammer-Stein).
