Description

With their energy guns out of charge, Killraven and M’Shulla are on a search for weapons in this dystopian SF classic tale of Martians, mutants, and gladiatorial arenas. (This was Mad Max on steroids before Max was even slightly peeved.) Following clues about the location of a stash of weapons, the duo head for LaGuardia airport – but it’s a cunning trap, set by Warlord, the sadistic trainer of combatants in the Arena, who trained Killraven and wants him back in there. Fired up by his recollections of harsh treatment at the hands of this human traitor, who willingly serves the Martians, Killraven fights the prosthetically enhanced tyrant for his freedom.

This is vintage Herb, every bit as good as his best Hulk issues. Loads of action, with a great karate chop by Warlord on Killraven in the last panel. Giacoia is typically superb in making the lines shine, and the pace of the story is frenetic.

Agreed - peak Trimpe work! I don't have any art inked by Frank - this looks so good and really does a great job of accentuating Herb's lines. Congrats! Thanks for sharing!

This is Bronze Age gold! The summersault panel scores big in technical difficulty and artistic categories. Trimpe gets to shine with power packed action that rolls that momentum through from each preceding panel.

THUNK! That neck chop needed some onomatopoeia. What a fun Trimpe battle page. Clean, uncluttered action, as he did. Kilraven is a real fun blast from the past. Thanks for sharing. Congrats!
