Description

Beautiful title page splash of the Punisher by Potts & Lee. Early Jim Lee Punisher work.

Check out the additional pics of the published page compared to the original art... There is a large image of the Punisher in the sky that was done separately. A good friend made me an incredible acetate overlay with that image so I could recreate the look of the published version. BIG THANKS to you buddy!!! (you know who you are)

Knowing how brutal and damaged Frank is, these moments of reflection are haunting.

I love that black and white look with the blue acetate. Artwork underneath has great depth to it. Awesome pick up.

This has to be the birth page of Punisher flying a kite and eating a sammich! Great splash love how the empty space os framed out by the rest of the page - it really works, even without the overlay. Congrats - thanks for sharing!

I'm comin' home, I've Punished time
Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine
If you received my journal telling you I'd soon Jim Lee
Then you'll know just chapter two
If you still want me, thanks to you buddy

Whoa, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the ole eighties
It's been three long years, do you still Jim Lee?
If I don't see a ribbon round the page for me
I'll make a big fuss, forget about us, Potts get inks from Lee
If overlay a yellow ribbon 'round the ole eighties

This is a pretty cool.  I dig seeing a rare calm moment for Frank.  You know it ain't gonna last.  Also like that touch of the crumpled blowing newspaper giving you this issue's story title.  And the overlay!  Outstanding stuff!  Great to see the OA with and without, and completes it as far as matching up with the published page.  Congrats!

You big timer with your Jim Lee Punisher splash, foliage and kite...

"Here I am--the big bad Punisher. In the depths of Central Park. Flying a kite. The same as I did. In this same park. So many years ago this exact day. When bullets laid down my family on this grass like a picnic blanket.  Here I am again. Punishing myself."

Nice to see Frank commemorating his family quietly, albeit masochistically. The blue overlay turned out great. I wonder if the original color hold is still out there?

I'm going to assume that at some point in the future, the Punisher strangled a gangster with that kite string.  Fantastic Jim Lee splash!

Wonderful splash of a rare quiet moment for Frank.  I actually like it without the image of Punisher, as I feel it intrudes on the serenity of the scene.  But that's just me.
