Description

Babs Tarr (in collaboration with Cameron Stewart) helped revamp Batgirl by giving her a more practical and stylish design for the Burnside era. Unfortunately, Babs (the artist, not to be confused with Babs, the superhero) worked digitally for her Batgirl run, so there isn't any physical Batgirl artwork other than a few random blueline-inked pages and sketches/pinups (like this one). Given that I'll never own a published Batgirl piece, I'm more than happy to have picked this up at auction.

This isn't a piece I had seen before, but I love that it features Batgirl (in the costume Babs helped design) in a more relaxed, casual pose with her helmet off and jacket draping over one shoulder. I also like that it has a bit of a sexy vibe to the pose (which Babs has leaned into more with her current art), and the icing on the cake is how the bat symbol on her jacket lines up with the one on her top.

Tarr didn't do much sketching either at her convention appearances making these very unique.

Beautiful Batgirl pinup from Babs Tarr! Love the more relaxed, more comfortable Batgirl costume. Congrats on the lovely pick-up!
