Description

While no one matches The Dude for Nexus art, there have been more than 40 other artists that drew Nexus as part of the main Capital/First/DarkHorse/RudeDude line of books. This number includes both artists on the main stories as well as the backup stories.

A long time, and likely quixotic, project of mine is to collect an example from as many of the 40 artists as I can. I am sad to report that after years of effort I am less than 25% to my goal. I will start posting them as I come across them in my binders.

While many of the substitute Nexus artists attempted to hue as closely as possible to The Dude's style, others went their own way. One very distinctive example of a different way of illustrating Nexus was by JK Snyder III. Snyder only worked on Issue 67, the cover for which is shown here. Almost without meaning to I have collected about a third of the pages for this issue, a bunch of which came from the artist. His different, more expressive and comic style has grown on me over the years.

Also, if you happen to have or know of random pages from Nexus by random artists, please consider taking pity on me and letting me know. An unrealized obsession is a terrible burden to carry, as I am sure many of you can attest.

A savagely powerful cover! It looks like he's using a Conan composition to make Nexus be at the top of a mountain of dead bodies he's vanquished.
