Description

Calculus Cat, created by Hunt Emerson that has drawn cartoons and comic strips since the early 1970s, is a Cat That Hates Television.

In his stories we do see our own world and our slavery within it, focusing on the continual commercialization of our lives. Visually speaking, the artist depicts a black and white world rich of details, with references to both Herriman and Tex Avery.

This is an amazing illustration by Dave McKean published in the "Calculus Cat" book, collecting Hunt Emerson's stories with the character, published by Independent Pub Group.

A really unique illustration, at the same time fun and subtly disturbing. It has a cool underground feel to it and somehow reminds me of the works by Italian artist Massimo Giacon :)

I'm a huge Hunt Emerson fan, as well as a McKean fan, and this is absolutely beautiful.
