Description

Great piece from the early 80s by the late great Ken Kelly, called The Perilous Pit. It was the cover work for a book by James Johnson called Daystar and Shadow.

Acrylic Paint on Board Approx 21 x 36

Very clean and bright colors.

The bloody red stains on the foreground tell us what lies in the pit is the last thing these two might see. Kelly's level of realism frames the tension to fully engage the audience.

The colors make the heroes look like they're giving off the only light in Hell. Congrats on this beauty!
