Description

I distinctly recall when this issue came out; being a novice Whovian I didn't recognize the Meddling Monk (a Time Lord like the Doctor, yet not encountered since the 1960's), and excitedly thought for some time that the 5th Doctor was somehow facing off against the 2nd Doctor.

In retrospect, I now understand that the comic's production team was having a bit of fun with the fans, by a) not showing the full face of the Monk for some time, b) having the Monk allied with Ice Warriors, noted adversaries of the 2nd Doctor, and c) having the Monk disguise his TARDIS as... a police box. Hm.

Given all the above, and a superficial resemblance between the original actors who played the Monk and the 2nd Doctor, some delightful confusion ensued. It was a good story.
