Description

Although it occurred during a very challenging time in my schedule the Inaugural OAX Event was one not to be missed. One of the parts of this incredibly unique show was the "Free Sketch" session held on Sunday. Many of the artists in attendance graciously participated. During the flight down I pondered just which one to choose. (To my surprise there was opportunity to get several.) For me it was an easy decision. Jim Mahfood is a tremendous talent whose energetic style is a perfect match for a quick sketch.

I have had nothing but disappointment with any commissions during my time collecting. Possibly because my preference is published works. With those you definitely view the final product. So as I handed Jim my 8.5" x 11" sheet it was with great trepidation. What he returned with no direction beyond "one of your girls" far exceeded any expectation I had!

It has the feel of his Pop Life and Skull Funk Radio perfectly captured within a single clear image positioned perfectly within the confines of the page. A friend at the show told me, "art should put a smile on your face". This certainly did and will continue to be the memento to capture the wonderful experience I had that weekend.

A most sincere thank you to Jim Mahfood for a piece placed firmly within my permanent collection!
