Description

Nothing says 1980s art more than the Pander Bros run on Grendel. Influenced by the artwork of Patrick Nagel and the overall aesthetic of the mid-1980s, Jacob and Arnold Pander left an indelible mark on comics and Grendel for decades.

This page from issue #4 features the main characters Christine Spar, who has already become Grendel and already killed one person, Brian Li Sung, her love interest and the next in line to (briefly) become Grendel, and kabuki vampire Tujiro XIV (who hundreds of years later becomes Pope Innocent XLII).

But I got this page for the hair, the clothes, and classic style of this comic. And the best part? The surprise character design sketches on the backside of the artwork featuring Christine with her Grendel fork, and Captain Wiggins and his cybernetic eye! So cool. I've included them below.

The art is on paper that measures 11.5"x16.5" and the art measures 10" x 15".

The early 80's look in full effect! The mousse and hair gel was flowing! Big angular shoulder pads and anguar faces!

Great pick up Josh! Outside of the main characters designs, I always love looking at the background characters in the Pander Brothers Grendel arc, they are a,ways so stylish and fasinating! This page does not disappoint!
