DescriptionThe Black Mirror has always been one of my favorite stories during the peak of my comic book reading days. It was a time for me when there were so many great new stories on the shelf. It’s a story and time that I truly feel nostalgic for despite it not feeling too long ago (although it has well been over a decade). One of my collecting regrets for the longest time was backing down on a page from The Black Mirror in favor of another page (which I do still own and love as well), but as time went on I was more nostalgic for The Black Mirror than the other story page I opted for. I really wanted a page with Batman on it since this iteration had Dick Grayson under the cowl and he was my favorite Batman thanks to Grant Morrison’s fantastic run. This story also introduced to me one of my most favorite creative teams of Scott Snyder, Jock, and Francisco Francavilla. To top it all off it was a dark story with many horror elements and produced one of my most favorite comic covers in issue 880 where this page came from. This story was truly a masterpiece and with the sentimental feelings attached to it Im happy to finally have a page from this story.Social/Sharing |

Digging the flow as you move down the page, and the rain effect throughout adds a nice sense of atmosphere. Congrats!

That rain is drawn like razor cuts! It really sets the mood of the story and maybe tells you something about Batman too when he stares up at that space needle. This issue has the most popular Jock cover, good thing the story lives up to it.

Outstanding page from an outstanding story. Jock's art has always been about simplicity. He puts nothing on the page unless it absolutely needs to be there. He's the complete opposite of those artists who focus on pilling detail on top of detail. Jock is a minimalist. He directs the eye of the reader only to the things that matter. This page is a classic example of his relentlessly minimalist approach to comic art. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
