DescriptionAnyone remember the B&W / anthropomorphic indie boom of the '80s?Boris was there to put and end to it (while capitalizing on it ;) Pure nostalgia. Dark Horse Comics launched with two initial titles in the summer of 1986, Dark Horse Presents and Boris the Bear. Elektra: Assassin #1 cover homage. Dark Horse Comics 1986 11" x 17" Thanks Shaun! Yeah, I remember the boom. I've got a couple of long boxes to prove it. And I seem to recall that this particular issue was rather difficult to find at the time. I'm just trying to remember what my art collection looked like in 86.

OMG! This is Elflord level cool! I can now cross it off the bucket list knowing it's in good hands as part of your collection. Awesome pick up! Super happy for you!

This was the image in every price guide to represent the series. Funny how the Funny Animal Rambo can talk better than the movie Rambo.

You really gotta feel bad for those Teenage Radioactive Black Belt Mutant Ninja Critters (TRBBMNC if you're cool) though. What a fun and interesting period for conics, a stand out image! congrats Rick!

So awesome! I never bought or read a single issue of this title, but I still have fond memories of it for being one of the many indy books of the era to skyrocket in price almost immediately. I remember dreaming about how much I wanted to one day be able to own X-Men #121, the full 1st appearance of Alpha Flight, which in 1982-1983 was already a $35 book where I live. Then I'd look across to the opposite wall of the store and see Boris the Bear #1 hanging there for the same $35 asking price and thinking how tempted I was to buy that instead, if I could come up with that much money! Congratulations on joining the "Owner of the original cover art of a classic, once hot & valuable 1980's indy book" club, Rick!

Legend! I was like is that the REAL cover art? As if it was a mirage. What a grab and piece of history. Loved this series and its humor so much. Great parody and epic grail.

I had this back in high school too. Probably a later printing. It was a fun series that I am not sure would hold up today but at the time it was pretty cool. Very neat you found this.

Great pickup, and by the number of comments people do remember this era of black and white comics. Cerebus and Usagi still rule them all.
