DescriptionThis one is special for me. I grew up in a small town. Two grocery stores but only one had comics (and not consistently). I bought ASM #132 (but not #133), then I saw #134. The next issue was #154 (Sandman). At fourteen, I got a job doing yard work and we found a comic store in Grand Rapids. The start of my collecting was Amazing Spiderman #157. That awesome Doc Ock cover with the helicopter. Then #158, and #159...I was collecting comics. So my comic world really started in 1976 with ASM #157. I have been trying for years to buy the Splash to that issue from RomitaMan (but he has an odd style with these pages). Enter, OAX in Orlando and Anthony's Collectibles. He's set up in the lobby on Thursday and I looked through what he had out. Low and behold, ASM #157 page 14. Reasonable priced. No brainer. Spiderman isn't in it, but Doc Ock sure is and I remember this page well from 50 years ago. Now if I can figure out that splash page........Social/Sharing |

I remember picking up this issue off the stands back in the day. This would have been my third issue and got me going down the collecting path as well. Loved Andru's work on the series. Great page from this fondly remembered issue. Love the bad guys dialogue about Not Wanting to get Shafted. So 70s. Thanks for sharing.

Also, the harsh reality of Doc Ock basically killing the guy...survival of the superior.

Nicely done! Always great to get a cool page from your first issue. Sigh - maybe someday for me - FF 86. Haha.

I was tired, missed that. It's fixed. Thanks for the catch.
