Description

This story is notable for being the final story drawn by then long-time DOCTOR WHO artist DAVE GIBBONS. This particular story was also the first issue of Doctor Who Monthly purchased by myself. So I'm happy to have this great, atmospheric page.

Comic artists are taught to draw the reader's attention around a page, leading you through a story. Look how this page is designed by Gibbons; pretty straightforward, right? Your mileage may vary, but my eye keeps returning to the central VWORP image of the TARDIS landing. I'm not sure if it's the prominent sound effect as part of the art (visually suggesting 'oppressive silence' for the rest of the page's action), or the delightful use of Zipatone� to suggest the TARDIS in mid-materialization.

Bloody great with the three images of the Tardis as the iconic object of the entire franchise. Gibbons classed up the US market!
