DescriptionTHE AVENGERS is my all-time favorite Marvel series. It's had its ups and downs over the years, but when it's good it's very good and somehow captures the spirit of Marvel in its glory days. I loved the Korvac Saga when I was a kid, and actually got to know artist David Wenzel via local art classes. He was a great teacher, became a great friend, and gave me this page as a gift. I usually prefer panel pages over splashes, but this one is hard to argue with! #NotForSaleEverSocial/Sharing |

WOW, killer splash! This was among my favorite stories ever as a kid. I proudly own the page #1 splash to this issue but yours is FAR better!

After almost 10 years, I finally post. I remember receiving this issue in the postal mail when I had an Avengers subscription as a child. This splash remained seared in my memory as I could not wait for what was to happen in the following issue as Wenzel captured the truly diabolical nature of Korvac/Michael here as he morphed into his powerful state. Thanks much for posting this gem. It would be a cornerstone in any collection, but it is truly awesome for an Avengers collector. What is even neater is your back story. Wenzel's offering of this page to you shows how humble he truly was.

Wonderful comments and yes he was a generous and kind man. He made an awful lot of time for a geeky teenager like me. And he put me onto some great artists ranging from Will Eisner to N.C Wyeth. He was so enthusiastic about illustration and comics. Don't miss his drawings for The Hobbit as well as Kingdom of the Dwarves.
