DescriptionAn amazing sketch from Ian. He really hit it outta the park. From the old 70's Atlas / Seaboard line. It's (top to bottom) Demon Hunter, Dragon, Tiger-Man, Scorpion, Cougar, the Grim Ghost, John Targitt, Phoenix, Destructor and the Brute. A great piece from a really nice guy. Getting it inked will be another day ...Update - and that day has come! Alex had done such a great job inking my two Grummett pieces I asked if he would be willing to tackle this one of Ian's as well. You really can't see the awesomeness at this resolution but this really rocks. The Grim Ghost is easily the best one here but the Dragon and Tiger-Man are also standouts. A big thanks to Alex for this. Original size 11x17 Social/Sharing |

After marveling over Ian's pencils, I was completely shocked by this; and not in a good way, I'm sorry to say. Either Alex had a VERY poor copy of the pencils or needs to learn to ink what's actually there instead of completely ignoring it. For example: I'm mystified as to why he ignored Ian's shading on (centre character) John Targitt's chest and torso, and replaced it with 4 horizontal lines; and as for Destructor's muscles... words fail me. Ian has studied anatomy, and Alex clearly has not! :/

I mean, I'd certainly have to be honest and say that as I'm not an artist I can't speak fully to anatomy but I'm very much pleased with this one.

As long as you like it, Kevin, that's all that matters! It annoyed me, though. grrr ;)
