DescriptionA beautiful painting by the master of space art. Chesley Bonestell is the gold standard for space art. The painting is one of at least five similar paintings that Chesley did late in his life (all commissioned by George Muller, associate administrator of NASA). Of the five, this one may be one of the best, if not the best. The rendering of the California landscape below the shuttle is quite nice and very "Bonestellian". The shuttle is just over San Diego with Mission Bay at the lower left and Baja off in the northeast. The painting was done in 1976.Social/Sharing |
