Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why?
Probably my Frank Brunner page from Doctor Strange #1. I was so excited to see this at SDCC one year. I had already spent my budget and had to negotiate with my wife to get this sweet page. An image that I remembered so clearly and it was a joy to look at in person. I also have to mention my Steve Ditko page from Strange Tales 129. It took me a while to find a page and is really the height for a Doctor Strange collector.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I have been collecting since the early 1990s. At the time I saw my first original art at a comic show and fell in love with the idea of that this is "the page." I still read monthly comics but original art is now my true love.
How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?
I started collecting art in around 1991-1992. I had collected Doctor Strange comic for a while and was reduced to upgrading copies I had. I had no idea that this stuff was available and not in vaults somewhere. I really enjoy seeing this stuff in person and as an early collector really like walking around SDCC like it was a huge museum.
How do you display/store your collection at home?
Mostly kept in portfolios. Have a notebook with xeroxed images of all my art that I look at as I figure out what is next.
What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?
Mostly already owned by others: -Steve Ditko Doctor Strange Pin-up Owned By: David Mandel -Doctor Strange Commission by P. Craig Russell. Owned By: Paul Greer -Marvel Treasury Edition Doctor Strange by Frank Brunner -Strange Tales #158, title splash. Owned By: Bill Howard
