Description
Favorites are hard. If I had to pick (besides my Ditko Strange Tales #129 page, another class altogether) it would be this page by Frank Brunner. I found it at the San Diego Comic Con the second year I was collecting. I had already spent my budget for that year when I saw this on the wall of a dealer. I immediately negotiated with my wife for a chance to buy this beauty. I have been a life long fan of Alice in Wonderland and remember this page fondly. At the time I never imagined that such a Dr. Strange icon would ever be for sale. Doctor Strange meets Agamotto.

Hey John I feel honored to be the first to comment on this gem. I loved Dr. Strange growing up as well. I loved Brunner's, Barry Windsor Smith, Steve Ditko & Sal Buscema's version of the good doctor the best. This is really a beautiful page. Congrads on owing this master piece.

Here you go John, finally your first comment. Though after seeing this just now for the first time, I have a strong feeling that the complete absence of comments after so many views IS as you say because "the sight of it strikes people dumb", though NOT because the art is great as you think, but rather because of how godawful your scan is. Because let's face it, EVERY fan of Brunner Dr Strange THINKS this page probably looks great, but there's no way to really tell because you've done such a good job of making it appear as bad as possible. I mean come on, a bad low rez scan from a bad quality photocopy of the original art? Ugh.... I assure you, do something about it and the comments will come!

While Brunner is his own best inker, Giordano did a great job on this issue and you got a page with the hookah-smoking caterpillar. This is one of the most memorable scenes of his magical run.

Wow, what a wonderful find!

I was blown away when I saw Frank's work on Dr. Strange. That first issue was magic. Years and years later, I was able to commission him for a Dr. Strange piece. That's how big an impact it made on me.

Congratulations!

That magical page where Doctor Strange fell into a Jefferson Airplane song.  I spent a lot of time leafing back to this page just to see the caterpillar.  Beautiful, beautiful, Brunner classic.
