We chatted online about this commission a bit already, but I have to reiterate since this is so great how much I love the angle of the character in this commission, the fact that she is casually holding up jewelry we all know how she obtained, and the subtle smile she wears that says, "Oops, I did it again..." 

Fantastic commission, sir! I wish I was able to stick around longer at the con to see it in person. 

So cool you bring your own sketch cards with you for artists to work on. This is a great distinctly Art Adams Wolverine. 

NO KIDDING, "love at first sight!" This is a beautiful cover. Rogue's smile, the angle of her body, the detail on the background setting. There is so much to let your eye fall on and appreciate here.

I have to agree. I love modern pages without the word balloons because it lets the art do all of the talking. And this page says a lot. I've never read this comic, but the narrative from panel 1 to that last panel is so B.A. We know what just went down between Wolvie and Cap and the final panel featuring Cap's winded, tired face fuels our imaginations to envision what that tussle looked like on the preceding pages.

I adore Songbird. That is such a wonderful shot of her in your sketchbook, but having a photo of Carlos holding it up like this is just a fun, beautiful sight. 

Pacheco was and will continue to be one of my favorite artists of all time. I wish I could have met him and gotten a sketch from him. Viewing this photo, though, helps assuage my sorrow. So thank you for sharing your experience here. This is great. 

This is kind of PERFECT! I love the angle she is at. Her pose is lovely yet powerful -- AND CLASSIC! So while I'm drawn to the composition, I'm most impressed with how beautiful her face is here framed by hair that curls and flows in just the right way.

I love the Elric novels by Michael Moorcock and I get picky about how artists render the character. Quah uses shading and his pen work so deftly, this art appears seemless, even with all of the layers of ink I notice when I examine this piece closely. Quah's lighting effects somehow both mute the piece overall, yet highlight and emphasize the detail on Elric's armor, sword Stormbringer, and his clothing. 

This should be at least a print for sale, but really it should be a book cover. What a work of art. Thanks for sharing! 

I've never really read Dr. Strange. I'm a fan of Butch Guice, though. And this piece makes me want to start reading Strange's comics.

JJR has been a favorite artist of mine since his Avatar days. Love that super-detailed style of his. I'm not sure if my favorite part of this piece are those bullet casings. OR the unique positioning of the characters in the image. Lots of fun staring at this.

This is amazing and needs more comment-love from fellow CAF-ers! The inks are so bold and powerful. I love the combination of these three characters, especially all in their dark costumes like Spidey. The city is a character here too, with a unique close-up of it. I'm familiar with Greg LaRocque's work, but this feels different and I love it.

I purchased my two Thunderbolts pages for the exact reasons you emphasize in your comments on both pages. One of my goals to purchase pages that display the range of a comic artist. Bagley, along with Patrick Gleason and several others are just so good at the action scenes AND the human, emotional scenarios.

I remember when the Brubaker run was coming out and I rebelled against the idea of reading it since I heard Bucky was brought back to life. Nearly 20 years later and I am finally getting over my irrational dislike as I just finished reading the first 20 issues of the run and I love it. And I love the Winter Soldier now. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE Butch Guice's work. 

Sooooooooo... I started looking here on CAF for Winter Soldier work and lo and behold- I see your Overstreet cover here. I know others have said this in the comments above. And this might seem like hyperbole. But this truly has to be the greatest rendition of the Winter Solider in a single image. 

I could go on like others before me about how the winter setting helps make the piece. Or how Guice's techniques are top notch. But I do want to say two simple things- 

1) I like how he's pointing his rifle and

2) I like how his cybernetic arm is emphasized here. 

I'm not entirely sure why, but I think this is one of the most intelligently, creatively composed pieces of artwork I've seen in a long time. It completely illustrates Guice's mastery. And it is downright COOL. 

I will definitely be back to view this; I've got it in my favorites here on CAF now. AND-- I just put a copy of this Overstreet edition into my Amazon cart. Thank you so much for sharing. All the best! 

Guice's style is one of those rare ones that got better with time. Some artists plateau. Some lose their touch. Guice was always great, but seeing his work now on these characters he worked on so long ago helps reify how his work has increasingly gotten stronger. 

I love the kinetic energy of this battle; it jumps off the 2D page and feels real. I can almost hear the crackle of energy blasts charging and the blistering of the city buildings. Now I'd love to see this colored some day.

This is such a unique commission piece since it allows the character to express herself beyond the typical gaze superheroes offer in pieces.

I'm here thanks to Cox and Snorek featuring this AMAZING variant cover by Butch Guice on Comic Art Fans Update #113.  I've only recently become a Winter Soldier fan, but I have found Butch Guice to be a fascinating artist since I was a teen in the 90s. This is now among one of my favorite Guice pieces ever. Love the staging and positioning of characters here. And like Bill said on the YouTube, the heavy inks are what draw me in. Though I will add how it is Guice's work on his face alongside the heavy inks that will keep me coming back to view this on CAF.

This is one of the coolest commissions I've seen in a while. Wow. I saw Jason's WiP online for this piece and it was breath-taking in those prelim stages. The final product is a top notch paragon of a commission from a very talented artist.

Great action narrative with Hal and Jon starting off confidentally flying and attacking, only to end on the ground. Truly, this is an enemy that demands more than brute will power-fueled constructs to bring him down. 

Highlights one of the most compelling relationships in DC Comics IMO. Great middle panel in pencils only. 

Beautiful work. Every panel has a unique vantage point to view these characters traversing the 4-panel narrative. Love this page.
