Incredible. Definitely cover quality. The lightening bolt on his costume has never looked more alive. If I had to guess I suspect Steve did this as a piece to sell, perhaps working out some ideas for Thuneworld. He has been doing more solo painted pieces over the last few years, as evidenced by what is for sale in his store. Great catch - I can tell you from experience that this would look incredible framed on your wall 

The next 45-50 issues are some of the best comics ever made.  Period!

Wow, just a singular piece from one of the most underrated series of all time. In terms of influence, I would put the first (pun intended) 12 issues of Flagg up against just about any other series. Congratulations!!!!

Bill only drew 4 pages of a backup story in Nexus issue 10.  It was a key plot line but Nexus was not in it. So it's great to see his striking take on the character, even though it looks like he drew Nexus wearing a jockstrap.

Springer must have been a baseball - Yankee fan, as he accurately conveys how Reggie would almost go down on one knee when he lefted the ball over the fence.  Howvere, after the game, Springer should have shown everyone relaxing with a Reggie Bar

It probably says something about me - and not something good - that 40 years on I still quote this line routinely. Congratulations!  With the baby throwing gag, together we have have 3 of the 4 best pages from all 300 issues.

What a romantic proposal!  Quite a "meet cute."  Incredible art and outstanding use of the black to create the creepy, scary vibe. Am I correct in seeing a black heart behind the embracing figures in the last panel?  Another interesting series introduced to me by you. Thank you, Mark.

Love this. It proves right the Chekhov rule - a weapon shown early in a story must play a key role later. As did this gun when Cerebus used it to blow up the giant stone Thrunk, who claimed  falsely to be Tarim to try and steal the gold Cerebus had extorted from his own followers. Great DPS. This is when the series was at its best, IMHO. Story and art really meshed.
