Dejah Thoris Owner: Notty Mantis Comment posted on 8/1/2023 I am lucky to own a simple Garza sketch of Dejah Thoris that I have had for years and still love. So I feel well qualified to say that this is the most elegant and other-worldly drawing of her that I have ever seen from the artist (or maybe any artist). And those metal textures are amazingly Barsoomian! Thanks for sharing this with us! |

Red Sonja #3 pg 17 (last page) prelim by Frank Thorne 1977 - NFS Owner: Dewey Cassell Comment posted on 6/20/2023 This is really interesting and I appreciate your analysis of it. Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl are not amused (WW #249) Owner: Patrick O. Comment posted on 6/15/2023
R Shur said:
Thanks for directing me here. Delbo drew a very nice Wonder Woman and I'll never understand why not more of a fan favorite. Joe's inking look great over Delbo's pencils. Nice display type piece! ![]() I agree that there should be more love out there for the Delbo Wonder Woman era. As a duet with Giella, they are completely fulfilling. I do still have the page from the beginning of the missile/jet sequence (Both are framed next to each other in my home). There are a few pages in between where the invisible jet avoids a missile that I would love to own in order to restore the whole exciting sequence. One of the pages is owned by Frank Giella (in his CAF gallery) so there is no way I would ask for that one! The others may still out there... |

Wonder Woman 249 p16 (1978) Hawkgirl Owner: R Shur Comment posted on 6/15/2023 This is great to see. This issue of Wonder Woman is one of my favourite comics because it had everything in it: funeral of Steve Trevor, his unknown villianous brother, secret organisations with increasingly long acronym/names, and Hawkgirl trying to be a friend rather than just an ally. I was the perfect age for it to blow my mind when I first read it. I am fortunate to own the page before this one where Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl smash through the window (Joe Giella's ink work on it is extraordinary). Thanks for sharing this page with us on CAF! |

BIG BARTA by Val Semeiks sketch card Owner: Tony Isaza Comment posted on 5/30/2023 This is an excellent Barda. It seems a challenging task to fit her oversized frame and personality onto a sketch card, and so I am impressed to see how well it is done. Thanks for sharing this! |

DARWYN COOKE- COVER TO LAST RESORT #5 Owner: Jimmy Palmiotti Comment posted on 5/10/2023 It is great to see this and I am happy to say that I still have all of my copies of Last Resort. Each of Darwyn's covers for it found fresh ways to draw the 'crazy' while carefully including details from each issue. The word 'thoughtful' comes to mind, which may seem out of place with all the blood, zombies, lion & monkeys, but hey-- each of those covers were special valentines to the genres. |

Thuvia Maid of Mars by Marquez Owner: Matt Huesman Comment posted on 4/13/2023 Yes!! This scene with Thuvia is exactly how she was depicted by Burroughs. Thuvia, Maid of Mars Pencil Prelim Owner: Eric L Comment posted on 4/12/2023 This is outstanding. I love the original novels and so I appreciate seeing Thuvia getting a rare feature in art. I also appreciate seeing the fearsome banths drawn with features described in the original books (I think that Marvel Comics often gave us oversized dogs rather than giant 10-legged lions with deep rows of teeth.) |

Red Sonja vs The Original Serpent Owner: Patrick O. Comment posted on 3/27/2023
Eric B said:
Those first two panels look like a dance, which gives the scene a nice sense of action. Very nice page! ![]() That is a really astute point about the dance poses. I noticed that they were not the typical fighting poses since the motion coils rather than engages from opposing directions. It never occured to me until you mentioned it how much the footwork seem derived from dance. |
