Sky Masters of the Space Force- April 2, 1959 (Jack Kirby / Wally Wood) Owner: Lee Harmon Comment posted on 2/14/2025
Bill J said:
Stunning Sky Masters comic strip by Jack Kirby and Wally Wood! It opens with pilot Sky Masters talking with one of the scientists developing new space craft. They talk about the failed tests on a new space ship like it was a human. The strip features beautifully drawn panels with interesting looking characters. I love the look of the scientist in the first panel. The drawing is just superb, no less than you'd expect frrom a strip drawn by Kirby and Wood. There are interesting backgrounds with Kirby-esque machinery. The girl is as attractive as any in Flash Gordon. I'm not sad the strip failed because if it had succeeded, we might never have had the Marvel Age we all adore. Great pick-up, congrats! ![]() Excellent point Bill! Had Kirby prevailed in the lawsuit with Jack Schiff does he ever join Marvel? It's' a true "What If???" story that none of us would have enjoyed to see. |

Phoenix 7 Cover Justine Frany Owner: Jason D'Ambrosio Comment posted on 2/12/2025 A very clever take on a character we often see shown in such a repetitive way. We have come to anticipate the exact pose associated with the Phoenix Force. This one breaks the rules and conveys immense power in such a refeshing and powerful way. So glad it landed in the proper collection! This piece needs to travel with you in the future for sharing with us all in person one day. Kin Wong has a Frany and the impact of the colors are not possible in any scan. This has to be the same. Congratulations and thanks for sharing it here! |

ALFREDO ALCALA Owner: Ken Picardo Comment posted on 2/1/2025 Subject matter withstanding this is a wonderful Alcala illustration. (That is nightmarish.) I own a couple color Alcala pieces, but nothing like this! Congratulations on landing a true gem. |

Captain America 176 Page 27 (1974) Owner: Alberto Gonzalez Comment posted on 2/1/2025 The greatest Cap art collection ever continues to grow. This was the era I read as a youth. Anti-heroes are a confusing concept. Steve Rogers was to me the soul of the type of America I dream of living in. He was the true hero for all people. As the adult reads this it makes me realize these type of pages formulated that belief. Sal Buscema art never grows old to me. Congratulations on this addition Alberto and thanks for being so generous and posting your treasures here on CAF for all to enjoy! |

Captain America Issue 224 Page 29 Owner: Peter F Comment posted on 2/1/2025 Zeck would establish himself as one of the all-time best Cap artists. I love the last panel on this end page. The treatment used is identical to what was the standard on so many Fiction House adventure stories. Hero(es) get a pat on the back for a job well done and signed off with a "Next Issue!" |
