Lee, I agree! The top panel pictures him as a young (16 year old?), reminds me a bit of the SSOC #24 Buscema Tower of the Elephant. Mostly artists draw Conan as a mature person even if they are drawing the early stories like Queen of the Black Coast, Rogues in the House, etc. That's what I really like about BWS's early issues, Conan LOOKED young!

I hate saying that Kayanan looks like a berrt version of BWS, but Wow!!!

Every panel a gem, but my favorite is the slim 5th! Sublime as only Wrightson can make it! 

A sign of great artists, that they can take a serene scene and balance it with gravity and etherality. Nice!

So the art credits listed are "Neal Adams and The Tribe"  which usually consisted of Tony DeZuniga, Sonny Trinidad and sometimes others. Frankly, I'm not sure I can separate out the difference between these two great inkers, but whoever did it did a fine job! 

Awesome team Russell and Hampton! The page just has such a grounded feel, but also some of Russell's fun touches!

Love Gene Day's super tight sequences. The action just explodes of the page!

Always a joy to see Sam reaching out to put his mark on other characters. This one doesn't dissapoint!

Such a wonderful rendering! Tony had a way to give his work such veracity, while not needing to hide lines that were imperfect and the purposeful smudge! Frazetta is the only other artist that can get away with that! 

All he needs now is a can of beans! Nice pic!

A incomparable get! Colan - Dracula (and Blade just for good measure!) Wonderful perspective, takes me back to the days when I was mesmerized by every issue "The Dean" put out.

Mr McFarlane, in his element! It just feels like you can sense that Todd is having a good time here with all the webs, stretching Spidey out to the physical limits and beyond . Just a fun page!

What a wonderful page! You can feel Bernie's mastery of the story oozing off the page with the heavy pungency of the swamp.  A cornerstone page for sure!

Awesome perspective of the apeman by two of the best in the business!  The way ERB I believe saw him, swinging free protecting his mate at his side.

I think it's an unspoken rule that to be cool in CAF you have to have a Red Sonja in your collection! This one is a nice example with nice, tight clean lines!

Besides your little "Bit" what I like about the page is the middle panel that seems to be channeling Ditko a bit!

What a wonderful example of how Frazetta was able to take an ordinary sequence and make it look like a Masterpiece. Just extrordinary!!!

Patrick, I couldn't agree more. Most artists except BWS seem to think of Conan only as a full-grown individual.  Many renderings I've seen of his first adventures: Frost Giant's Daughter, Tower of the Elephant, Rogues in the House even to Queen of the Black Coast, he was probably under 20, but drawn like a 40 year old, Even Frazetta, I think aged him too much (look at the Frost Giants and Fighting Thaug covers.) and that is precisely what appeal to me also about this cover!

Would like to know a little more about the inspiration for this painting! I see about 5 skulls in various portions & stages. The eyes also are very dramatic. Very visceral!

I knew that it was Alcala right away, but was a bit surprised at first that it wasn't Buscema. Infantino did as good or better on this story. Great get!
