Bulge in his vest? That's a new one. Methinks you have been reading too many art book descriptions. Lol. Its a nice image. I like artist self portraits. I wake up to a framed Hannes Bok self portrait everyday. A lady with bulges on her chest might prove easier to sell in the long run. ![]() Okay...maybe I need to freshen up that description. |

Doctor Strange by P Craig Russell (from The Marvel Comics Limited Edition Superhero Print Series 1986 - see additional images) Owner: E DLS Comment posted on 8/11/2025 This is such an amazingly enchanting piece generated by a creator in his prime on a character that seems to be made for him. The fact that it adds a third to a collection of two that you already have? Wow...such little pieces of magic (or sorcery) so rarely happen in this hobby of ours. First let me get my apology out of the way. I know I should be talking about your art post, but I would be remiss if I didn't say something about my dear friend Mitch. I bought my very first piece of art from Mitch exactly 40 years ago this year. All the incredible artwork I purchased from him in those early years became the foundation of what my collection is today. Since then, our collector-dealer relationship has become a personal friendship that's lasted four decades and counting. I can't even imagine what my collecting journey would have been like without him. Thanks Mitch! As to your post, I'm SO glad you were able to finally reunite these two pieces. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. And it's perfect that Mitch was the one who helped you do it. My favorite part of the reunion though is your vow to never let get separated again. May you enjoy them together for a lifetime my friend. ![]() Eric - to your first point on Mitch, sometimes the way that art comes to us can color (pun intended) how much we enjoy the piece. A tough negotiation or someone taking advantage of our nostalgia to extract an extreme price can make us simultaneously wince a little while we enjoy what we're acquired. Getting this piece was the exact opposite - a gracious note from someone who had not forgotten a conversation with a collector many years ago. How often do you hear that story? When I look at this piece, that act of graciousnss will always be asscociated with it - and that makes the piece that much better to me! |

When you think about human beings, there's a long list of celebrated achievements that define us as a race.
