You would know better than I, but I don't believe there are many images in the series of Carol reading a letter. Hopefully, not a comment on her education. Anyway, that profile in panel one reminds me of the innocence of a number of strips from the first two storylines, and that profile pose in panel three is so evocative. I'm guessing it's complicated to depict reading a letter in a comic strip - which may be why we see Carol talking on the phone so frequently. A much easier way to connect characters, locations, advance the story, etc.? But, I do think you're right. Another letter-reading moment that comes to mind is daily 2496 from the Jack Slingsby storyline - Carol reads a letter to Jack, the title character, from his wife (and Carol's former schoolmate), Iris. Carol & Jack are on a romantic getaway trip that's supposed to mark the beginning of them coming out to the rest of the world about their affair/love. Iris' letter reports her pregnancy to her husband...and to someone who she thinks is her friend! Ruh-roh! |
