Unfortunately, I did not have direct contact with Dave; I shared the www.carol-day.com website link with his rep to make sure he had whatever reference material he might find useful, but don't know how well he ultimately knew Wright nor his creation, Carol Day. McKean is English and born in 1963...so I would not be surprised if he may have had a baseline familiarity with the strip. |

I don't know the first thing about this artist, this series, these characters, or this story. But there is so much to appreciate in the artwork that I don't even know where to start. Love the chalky texture of the sky in the first two panels. That uplighting in the third panel is just brilliant. And the light and shadow of the structural facade (and the two figures) in the fourth panel is so well executed. You could teach a class on this piece. I think you might do a better job of teaching that class than me, Eric! |
