Stunning! This page of Jungle Action is from one of the earliest stories about the Black Panther. Pencilled by the great Billy Graham who doesn't get nearly the attention he deserves. Graham was the first black artist hired by Marvel and worked on all the early issues of Luke Cage Hero for Hire, before moving on to work on Black Panther. This is a powerful page, especially the half-splash of the Black Panther being burned on a cross by the Klan. Imagine being a black artist drawing this page back in 1976. This is a historically important page in the Marvel Universe's history.

Interesting that Lienil put a tong of crosshatching into his drawing of Deadpool and almost none on Deadpool, so you get a contrast between the two combatants of darkness and light! Interesing too that you could frame it at this way or upside down! Fabulous pick-up, Paul, congrats!

The inkwork is superb. Love all the deep blacks and the extensive crosshatching. Especially the crosshatching on Carol's face in the first panel which lets us see that she's in shadow. Fabulous Haunt of Horror page by Billy Graham! Graham, of course, was Marvel's first Black artist and went of to draw the first issues of Luke Cage, Hero for Hire and worked on Black Panther as well. But he started in horror comics and this is a terrific example. Love how the page starts out with a tight closeup and then pulls out to a super wide shot of New York City. The amount of detail Graham put into that wide shot is incredible. Great page from a great artist who, unfortuantely, didn't stay in comics nearly long enough.

Love to hear your personal connection to the art. That's part of the reason any of us are in this hobby, isn't it? Well, besides being very nostalgic, this is a splendid Amazing Spider-Man cover! Drawn by the superb Ron Frenz, an artist who doesn't get nearly enough credit but followed ably in the footsteps of Ditko and Romita Sr. Fun image of Slyde literally sliding under the nose of Spider-Man. Love that pose he's drawn in--You can see how hard he's running just by the pose! Unusual to have a two-panel cover but this one works. Fun to see Spidey toppling to the ground, having just missed grabbing Slyde and his intended target zooooming off into the distance. Outstanding pick-up, congrats!

Cool self-portrait by David Wright. I love your description of the pose and the lighting. I am struck by the the look in his eyes, a little wary, questioning, concerned. When you think about it, war was brewing in Europe and would involve Britain in 1939. Is that on his mind? Interesting too, that in the 1930s, artists like David would actually wear a suit and tie to work. I've seen other pictures of artists working in studios wearing suits or at least dressed in a shirt and tie, often with a dark cuff over their sleeves to protect their shirts from getting stained. Another time and place. (Sigh) Great find, congrats.

Phenomenal splash from "Silver Surfer Rebirth/Legacy" by Ron Lim and Dave Ho. What a great symbolic ending for the story. The outline of the Silver Surfer's face over a interstellar scene of the Surfer zooming through space on his cosmic surfboard. This should have been a cover because it's such a summation of the journey the Surfer has been on. Stunning work as always by Ron Lim, who has drawn more SS stories than anyone. Love her layout here, with the FALCON-like composition! Ulan's mastery of anatomy is uncanny as well. Love the way she emphasizes Black Widow's legs. I'm a leg man myself. Fantastic that she drew her own logo/kmasthead as well. I am blown away by Ulan's skill and imagination. I think OA collectors everywhere will soon be saying Ulan is the new Manix!

Very cool Punisher cover by Dave Hoover! Classic '90s cover by a classic '90s artist! There's a real slickness to Dave's art. He always used a strong light source and that allowed him to use deep shadows and shiny surfaces. The light wrapping around Punisher here really helps to accentuate his arm and chest muscles, giving him a powerful look. The Eradikator's costume has such a 90s vibe with the huge shoulders! And of course what would any 90s cover be without a buxom babe in distress? Fantastic pick-up,  congrats!

Love the dark shadows and rich blavks that Di Meo uses here.
