Thanks LB! Your full Canary story is pretty amazing and I really can't oversell my reaction to seeing the Curious Case cover just now. Lets put it this way, I were taking a sip of water it would have been a spit take haha Knowing how proud Toth was of that original story and the positive reception to it (which he credits to giving him the confidence to make Bravo for Adventure) just makes it all the more special! Big congrats again!

Nice one, Bill! All the Famous Artist's guys are masterful and their influence on silver and bronze age comic artists is undeniable. There's this one Alex Toth illustration in particular that looks like it could be done by Fawcett. And I know that John Buscema wanted to be a classical illustrator but I'm guessing he missed the window once color photography replaced a lot of the ad work. Anyway, thanks for sharing this simple yet great example! 

Just coming back for a visit ha Had always meant to replace this page with another Romita example and only just got one a couple weeks ago. Can't believe how long it took! Funny story. I contacted Miguel to get a commission from Mr. Bernet and requested a panel recreation. I sent him a handful of panels from the early Torpedo stories that I liked and he did the one that's in my gallery. But right afterwards I saw that this one was on the website which was another one of the panels I had sent him. Congrats on snagging it!

ha yeah, I saw that auction as it was happening. Started off so cheap and went up to 9k or something, so I took some solace in the fact that I could have never afforded it haha After someone was looking at the Hi-Res scans on the Toth FB page, they noticed that the blacked out panel actually had a drawing underneath and Alex blacked it out either because he didn't like the result or the content. I don't know if you'd noticed anything on yours, but in the light when you look at the blacks on the page, you can see linework underneath where he drew all the detail and then filled it in with solid blacks after. Not a huge surprise, but still really cool to see! 

Finally the mysterious page is revealed! And a KILLER title page to boot! Congrats Felix! I think you owned this way before I got mine, but I'll say it anyway. Welcome to the Alex Toth Torpedo Club!
