DescriptionLadies and gentlemen, collectors, art aficionados, and connoisseurs of true genius. I present to you what may very well be the single greatest discovery in the history of comic art. No, scratch that. The history of ART ITSELF. Move aside, Rembrandt. Step back, Michelangelo. Even the grandiose works of Caravaggio, da Vinci, and Bernini cower in the presence of this celestial masterpiece. What you see before you is no ordinary comic strip. No, this is a one-of-a-kind, impossibly rare, RuBrats Sunday strip from August 15, 1999. One of the most fabled and sought after comic strips in existence. A piece so legendary, so steeped in historical significance, that for decades it was believed lost to time. But against all odds, my dear friend Marcus, through a feat of detective work so staggering that it rivals the exploits of Indiana Jones (a character played by a certain other individual whom we shall not name here), tracked down and acquired the original artwork, and, in an act of generosity that defies reason, gifted it to me! But why, you ask, is this particular strip so mythical? What makes it more precious than a Gutenberg Bible or a lost Van Gogh? Because this was the only time in the history of syndicated newspaper comic strips that the writers and artists of RuBrats, visionaries in their field, chose to immortalize one of the most pivotal, world altering events of the modern era: the night I, Rubén DaCollector, watched Blade Runner at Jeff Singh’s house. Yes, it was an event so momentous, so unfathomably significant, that its cultural shockwaves reached the creators of one of the greatest comic strips of the 1990s. They knew. They understood. They grasped the gravity of what had transpired and did the only logical thing: They devoted an entire Sunday strip to commemorating it! You may be suspiciously asking yourselves, "But, didn't Rubén tell us all on a live stream that this event happened just last fall in 2024? How could the event have already been immortalized in a comic strip back in 1999?". Unfortunately, the answer to that riddle is far too complex for most minds to comprehend, so just accept it as I tell it now. Note the unparalleled craftsmanship. The expressive inking. The meticulous attention to detail. But most of all, marvel at the astonishing accuracy with which they captured our struggle: My visceral contempt for Harrison Ford, Jeff’s bemusement at my suffering, and the surreal revelation that, despite the screen being dark, the film played on in my mind, a cruel and endless torment. "This FORD’s my favorite!", a line so rich in irony that scholars will be analyzing its implications for generations to come. For decades, collectors assumed this strip had been lost, either seized by shadowy museum curators or whisked away into a black hole, too powerful for the public to behold. But now, it rests in my possession, where it shall remain forever, the crown jewel of my collection. There is no price one could assign to such a masterpiece. The Mona Lisa? A mere footnote in history compared to the brilliance of this work. I expect the world's leading museums will soon be making their bids, but alas, this piece will remain in the private collection of its rightful owner, me, forever enshrined in the halls of my personal gallery, a testament to the power of friendship, artistic innovation, and the eternal struggle against Harrison Ford’s filmography. Some will call it fate. Others, destiny. I call it history. Or more accurately, mystory. Now, BOW before its magnificence! Social/Sharing |
