DescriptionApparently having to skip OAX v.2 did not end up saving me as much money as I had hoped.Seven years after the release of her multi-Eisner winning graphic novel, My Favorite Thing Is Monsters, Emil Ferris released the second volume (and hopefully not the last?) in 2024. These two books cover a lot of ground: childhood, loss of parents, loneliness, child heroes and villains, the Holocaust, self-image, queerness, the effect of advertising, 1960's Chicago, racism and civil rights, a lot of other themes I am overlooking, and of course Monsters. I don't have much to add to the books themselves: masterpieces, and the art form marries the story content seamlessly. Tremendously original and with artwork showing the author's/artist's handiwork in a manner not done anymore that is very personal. Just great work that shows what the genre can be in the hands of someone at the top of her game. Social/Sharing |
