Here's a real showstopper of a piece! Jeff had a blank "Empress" sketch cover laying around, and decided to pass some downtime on his WhatNot stream by drawing the Empress he's best known for - Emerald Vi!

This piece checks off a few firsts for me: it's my first sketch cover, and my first full-colour piece from Jeff that's larger than a sketch card. There's really something to be said for the way Jeff's colour work pops on a larger scale. It's a real treat to look at, maybe even mesmerizing... (or is that just the Emerald Eye? Careful you don't stare at it too long!).

My favourite part of this piece is the way Jeff incorporated all of the green highlights, giving it something of an otherworldly quality. Between the Eye's glow and Vi's expression, the piece takes on a little bit of a menacing, unsettling air, which I think really captures the frankly terrifying amounts of power that the Eye and its Empress wield. And, from a more technical standpoint, I love that even with a very monochromatic colour palette, none of the details get overshadowed or lost.

A huge thanks to Jeff for this piece, which is absolutely one of the highlights of my collection!

There's more than the eye that's mesmerizing about this piece! The color of money of course! I like those big collars too!
