Description

Karate Kid vs. Onslaught by Ken Hunt

I first discovered Ken Hunt's art through his deviantART page. I really liked his style and immediately put him on my watch list. Other CAF members here started to get commissions from Ken, and every one of them looked awesome, which just further convinced me to get a commission from Ken for myself. First I thought about getting a Batsman from him, and I probably still will do that, but instead I went with a Karate Kid commission. For the opponent on this one I went with a member of Marvel's Imperial Guard, Onslaught. For those unfamiliar with the Imperial Guard, they were created as analogues to the Legion of Super-Heroes. Every member of the Guard was supposed to have an equivalent in the Legion. For instance, Gladiator was Superboy, Fang was Timber Wolf, Hobgoblin was Chameleon Boy, etc. . . Karate Kid's equivalent is Onslaught. Onslaught is supposed to be a master of every martial art in the Marvel Universe, including techniques unique to that universe, such as the Iron Fist. So of course I had to eventually get a commission of him fighting Karate Kid. And Ken did a heck of a job here. Since these two are supposed to be basically the same character, Ken showed the fighters as being pretty much equal here, matching each other's blows perfectly. I should also point out how great some of the details are, such as the folds on Onslaught's clothes right above his belt as he twists. I love little attention to details like that. Big thanks to Ken for such fantastic work!

So how would this fight go? Well, honestly I think that Onslaught would give Val Armorr one of his toughest fights yet. They both know countless martial arts techniques, and many of them will be new to their opponent. So really it will all be down to adapting. I like to think that Val will win, but it's hard for me to give a reason why. So my reason will just be that I like Karate Kid more!

If you like this piece, then please do go commission Ken yourself.

Travis, the Original always wins against the imitator.

Another cool commission by Ken. It's great to see some so committed to their character and putting them up against a different opponent every time.

I want Val to win on the grounds of fashion sense alone.
