Description

This is artist Becky Cloonan's pencil artwork for a page from the final issue of American Virgin, a Vertigo series that mixed politics, faith and strong characterization for a compelling drama.

Cloonan's pencil work here is pretty tight. Also noteworthy is the fact the panel borders have been inked. Some research indicates Street Angel writer/artist provided the inking work for this issue, but he did so on a blueline scan of these pencils. I like the psychedelic vision Cloonan brings to life here. Such mind-bending moments were common throughout this series as the evangelical Adam continued on his globe-trotting journey of self-discovery.
