Description
This one has been improperly stored in the past, gauging by its yellowed appearance. (See the 'as-is' secondary image below for its current patina.) I will not be restoring it. The Karza figure is (sadly) a stat, the original art for it is slightly smaller and underneath.

My first letter to a comic book publisher was printed on the inside of this cover. A cringe-worthy read, my straight-laced 17-year-old self didn't quite understand the concept of 'retconning.'

Always a pleasure to reel in a piece from the landmark 50th issue!

Great cover. And very cool that you have a personal connection to the issue. I know you aren't asking, but I think this is worthy of restoration.

I appreciate that, but I have it on good authority that it's double the usual price just by the fact it's double the square-inches. Plus, I don't believe a restoration does a thing for its value. If it were ever to have to be sold, a skilled buyer would ding it either way; for either having been restored, or by NOT being restored. I just prefer to not spend the money in that fashion when there are more pieces to buy.

For what it's worth, 2-in-1Guy, this cover is at a paper restoration service, at this point only for evaluation.  It's a very complicated case, with multiple stats (and apparently different types of stat paper and glue) as well as scotch tape (which may be covering a stat or two).

The prognosis may well be to leave well enough alone.  We'll see, and I'll report in a few months when I know more.

The professional recommendation is to NOT attempt to restore.  Stats covering stats, tape covering white-out, multiple types of glue, ball-point pen on top of tape...  best to just keep it out of the light so it stays stable as-is.

Very cool--obviously you love Micronauts, but pretty cool that this issue in particularly has added nostalgic value for you. Congrats!
