Seppo Polameri (1936-2017) was a veteran Finnish illustrator and painter, known especially for his nature illustrations and book covers. In the 2000s, he painted a series of huge wall paintings as backdrops for dioramas in the Finnish Museum of Natural History. He may have already been familiar with the tools required for that job: I believe this earlier piece has been done with latex paint on canvas.
