DescriptionIt has taken me a bit of time to add on of these to my collection but I think it is a really good one. Sickles' influence on Caniff and on everyone that came after him can not be overstated. His work on Scorchy is not as well known as Caniff's work but 1934 to 1936 he worked together with Caniff and they both had a hand in each other's strip. It is during the mid 1935 period you can really see where Caniff was learning from Sickles about lighting and shadows. For a fan such as myself of Caniff, a good Scorchy example was a must and something that has eluded me for far too long. I have had a few partial dailies and a really swell war illustration by Sickles but not a full daily. It always seemed the price was just that much higher than I was willing to go and I have been chasing it for years. This year Roger Clark offered a nice one in his annual New Years pre-sale and I decided it was a good one and worth pushing my budget up for. It worked out into a smooth and fast transaction from my long time friend and early mentor in this hobby. Now it is here and it is huge and gorgeous in person. It will be my last new piece this year (at least I think so) and it is a great way to end this year which saw me add some real gems to my Caniff collection.

That is a beauty, Mr. Singh. Have made a few attempts at that one over the years. So glad to see it in your collection!
