Description

1940's premium (?) from the comic strip department of the Chicago Herald-American (1939-1953) news paper. Back in the 40's the funnypapers were the newspaper industry's greatest circulation builders and they devoted immense resources to bragging about their comic strips, especially this paper that advertised that they had Americas greatest comics. From this newspaper i also have Blondie, Lone Ranger, Popeye, and Jiggs coasters. It's interesting that in Gottfredson's newspaper strips he drew Mickey Mouse using the telephone over a dozen times with variations.
