DescriptionThe ‘multi-panel expression change’ was a favourite device of Sal Buscema’s, and is evident in his breakdowns here for Klaus Janson. As a nine-year-old boy reading this comic, I was struck by the contrast with typical ‘superhero violence’ in which the super powered are never really hurt. Without knowing his own strength, the Hero for Hire had genuinely battered this cheap-punk-with-a-gun into unconsciousness. In combining absurd over-power with a tendency for calamitous accident, Luke Cage demonstrates that he is a True Defender, despite all his protestations at the time.Social/Sharing |
