Description

Half-Man, Half-Fish… and all hate – it’s Aquon!! Herb Trimpe made every one of the Hulk’s bestial foes seem epic, and Sal Trapani’s inks seemed so well-suited Herb at that time. As a bonus, Herb shows us the back of Hulk’s head. (While his expression is out of view, we can imagine Jade Jaws to be suitably unimpressed by this latest soon-to-be-defeated combatant.) This page is from the classic Captain Omen and the Infra-Worlders story. I read this first in the UK reprint title, the Mighty World of Marvel, with the story appearing a few years after the original printing. I was overwhelmed by the pulsating, action-packed story, and I recall this splash page being particularly exciting. Sold to me by Herb’s daughters, and I’m very grateful that they parted with it.
